Clinton vs. FOX News
Holy shit. That is some intense stuff. Of course, due to some copywrong violations on the part of the submitters (pesky laws!) I won’t link directly to the video I watched… but it’s pretty easy to find nonetheless.
So Clinton snaps on public television and talks about the vast right-wing conspiracy to control the media to misinform the American public and re-contextualize (maybe even, gasp! rewrite) history with regards to terrorism as a whole and his “inaction” in particular. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
This article talks a bit about the intelligence report that couldn’t come at a sweeter time (here comes November, boys and girls) that concludes that the war in Iraq has done little to make the nation safer and has, in fact, done much to put the country at risk.
I particularly like Clinton’s take which he gave just after the taping of the dread FOX interview: “That’s what’s driving the terrorism… It’s not just that there’s an unresolved Arab-Israeli conflict. Osama bin Laden and al-Zawahiri can convince young Sunni Arab [people] who have despairing conditions in their lives… that they get a one-way ticket to heaven in a hurry if they kill a lot of innocent people who don’t share their reality.” I think that’s powerful stuff; I like to hear world leaders speak of sympathy and empathy as well as action. I’m tired of hearing mission accomplished and bring it on.
I think bravado is a weapon of terror in the minds of those who see only battles and wars; consideration and thoughtful action is an offering of hope in the minds of those who see the future.
Yeesh. When did I get all sentimental all of a sudden? Bush is still a miserable failure.
