Trackback spam!
Wednesday, January 5th, 2005Since installing Kitten’s bad-ass spam plugin I’ve watched all my spam comments die a flaming death. It hasn’t had a false positive yet, which is just fantastic. I’ve also installed Doug Campbell’s TarPit which slows down comment spammers’ submissions so that they become less efficient for the spammer. Finally, since I get e-mailed every time a spam gets deleted (an option I’m going to leave on until I’m absolutely positive that there aren’t false positives), I can watch 40 comment spam a day go down. Frickin’ sweet.
I found out today that someone had trackbacked my site with the web site titled “free dog sex movies.” Trackback spam? Seeing 30 more of the little spammies convinced me of this new threat.
Turns out, though, that Kitten and Campbell just might be able to take care of that, too. Totally frickin’ sweet! All trackbacks of that nature deleted as spam and we’re off to the races!
