Bush lied—again!
John Kerry was in Vietnam. He won three Purple Hearts. He won the Bronze Star and the Silver Cross. The congressional committee that awarded him these prestidgious medals probably knew what they were doing. They don’t just hand these things out.
But the “Swift Boat Veterans” have been giving him hell for it. Who could’ve asked them to turn up the heat during this presidential campaign?
Of course it was someone in Bush’s campaign. I’m sure, when asked, Bush will say something like, “Oh, that Benjamin Ginsberg—what a kidder! I had no idea he was doing that.”
Dammit. Can we talk about real issues? Poverty and taxes, war and peace, oil and economies and health care? Can we talk about foreign policy? There’s so much noise over medals and service in Vietnam… this happened over twenty years ago and there are goddamn more important things to talk about now.
